I am still away in lovely France, with slightly wibbly and intermittent internet access. I may also have fallen into a red wine induced coma for the past month, after finishing my MLitt final portfolio, and then moving out of my beloved Merchant City flat (oh, how I miss it - but not so much the singing brawling fighty men outside at 2am...), and then driving to France... I have recently logged on to the internet to see lots of interesting emails, which I badly want to respond to right away! All being well with Orange internet in France, I will be working through email and work backlog over the next few days, as - after weeks of burning sunshine - we are set for some stormy French weather (a great excuse to lurk indoors and pore over the writing blogs and short story mags, eating amazing cheese and bread, guzzling wine, and generally lolling and scrobbling around on the internet!). Back in the UK in a few weeks, and then, on to further adventures. Can't wait!
On a most exciting note, I have received a Distinction for my MLitt! Whoop! Delighted.

Well thenn, a worthy congratulations to you -well done you!
Barbara,
Thanks! I've just stopped by 'Bleeeuugh' for the first time since I got the old internet-io again - you sound really, really busy! And I'm envious you have read 'Nude' already, my copy is waiting for me, all alone, in Glasgow... Nice treat for when I get back to rainy Scotland, though ;)
Lis - huge congrats on the MA distinction. That's ab fab!
I am jealous (in a nice way!) of your sojourn in France - what a lovely experience.
Enjoy it all!

p.s. I sent the books to Linda!
Congratulations on your distinction - very well deserved after all your hard work!
Well done with the distinction.
Wish I were travelling in France!
Short story material there?
Lucy
Nuala,
Thanks for the congrats! Ab fab indeedio! Now I just have to edit edit edit before I can send the stories out and about - I can't seem to stop tweaking - I wonder if I will find a point where I will just stop naturally - where each story will seem done, finished? Hopefully! I am going to have to set myself stricter deadlines, I think.
France was a lovely experience - I really did enjoy it. I can't wait to go back, I want to see so much more.
Thank you for sending the books to Linda! You rule!
Hey Fifecat!
Congrats to you, on completing a whole 12 months of reading dangerously! You did a *bit*, ahem, better than me - I am hoping on starting around November, December ish - not sure if I'll make a book a day though, but I'll give it a damn good shot! I really appreciated your posts this year, I'm looking forward to your next blog, and next challenge. Cheers!
Lucy,
Thanks! Loads of short story material in France, not least the attempted burglary we had on our second night...torch lights shining through the window, creaking wooden shutters, my heart pounding so much I thought I would be sick, running upstairs naked (a sight certain to terrify anyone...)ready to bosh the fiends heads open with an umbrella (my weapon of choice)... Yep, lots of adventures! (The burglers ran off before I could dispense any umbrella justice, lucky for them, eh!).
Love the photo story on your blog this week - you live in such a great part of the world, I would love to live near the sea - that is one of my aims, for the next few years. Sea, writing, walking, peace. Perfect.
