What is HappenStance?
It's primarily a pamphlet imprint originated and independently run by Helena Nelson. If you'd like the full story, you'll find it in The HappenStance Story: Chapter 1. HappenStance also publishes Sphinx, a magazine featuring news, views and articles about independent poetry publishing, essential reading for anyone who wants to get their poetry published.
Enormous thanks to HappenStance, who are very generously awarding the following prizes to the winners of The Glasgow Student Short Story Prize:
The First Prize Winner: Will win a HappenStance Subscription, plus the STORY anthologies from the last two years, and How (Not) to Get Your Poetry Published, (containing lots of useful advice for any one looking at publication for the first time). The subscription includes a copy of HappenStance Story Chapter 3, a poetry pamphlet of your choice, 25% off all publications for a year, launch invites, postcards and a BADGE!
Second and Third Prize Winners: The last two year's STORY anthologies and a copy of How (Not) to Get Your Poetry Published.
HappenStance are running a great competition that has caught my eye, mainly because it's judged by no less than the brilliant Janice Galloway, but also because it it offers free checkbox critique feedback, which sounds pretty useful:
I also like the fact that there is no theme (just like my Prize!), so you're free to explore any topic, any subject.
